BLUE HILLS TRAIL WORK – MAY 8, 2004

This trail work event saw eleven SEMASS NEMBA and TrailWatch volunteers joining forces with the Blue Hills staff to reconstruct a washed out section of trail at the intersection of Puddle Path and Wolcott Path. Poor soil conditions, ineffective drainage ditches and crumbling water bars had resulted in most rainwater runoff being channeled directly down the center of the trail.

The crew installed two substantial water bars, strengthened from below with large rocks and surfaced with compacted gravel. Two existing drainage ditches were widened and lengthened to divert the runoff and several existing water bars uphill of the intersection were cleaned and rebuilt.
